YCN Submission 2014: Fedrigoni 2015 desk calendar

Brief: To design a desk calendar for Fedrigoni customers to promote their woodstock paper range. This includes 15 colours and 7 weights.

Concept: To create something that the customers can engage with. The calendar will be a fun and interactive way to show off the range of woodstock paper and weights available.

Solution: The idea plays on having tea and biscuits at your desk. From thinking about the space ansd what people have on their desks I produced a calendar based around a biscuit selection box and chose twelve biscuits to showcase each of the months. The majority of colours and weights from the range have been considered to resemble the biscuits. To continue the idea of the biscuit selection box I recreated the plastic box to fit twelve biscuits in, the information slip to the show the colour and weight used for each biscuit and the cover sheet to protect the biscuits, which is the thinnest weight. To follow are coasters and promotional postcards that would be a way to promote the paper. Printing techniques have been used to show off the range and further resemble the biscuits such as spot varnishing for the party rings and duplex for the bourbon biscuit.
The biscuits would overlap around the sides of the box
The thinnest weight is used to portray the cover sheet in a biscuit selection box
The plastic for the biscuits has been vacuum formed to allow space for twelve biscuits, one for each month.
The bottom and top of each biscuit is a thicker weight than the middle of the biscuit and the bottom shows the detail of which colours have been used for each part of the biscuit.
The jammie dodger has been used for February and highlights the important date 'valentines'. Red foiling has also been used on the heart.
Each biscuit would be like a sticky notepad and allows you to peel days off and stick them where you want. Each biscuit can sit on your desk to give the idea of having biscuits at your desk.
Printing finish: Duplex and a Camoscio the lighter colour has been used to represent the cream in the middle
Printing technique - Duplex
Custard cream - Embossed
Chocolate digestive - embossed
Ginger nut - engraved
Wafer - Three of the woodstock colours to represent the layers in the biscuit and the top is engraved.
