Monte Carlo is a sound art composition recorded at CERN
CERN (the European Organisation for Nuclear Research) is a research organisation in Europe that operates the largest particle physics laboratory in the world. Its main facility is the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), a powerful particle accelerator used to study the properties of subatomic particles, including the Higgs boson. CERN's mission is to study the fundamental structure of the universe and the laws that govern it, through research and experimentation in particle physics.
"Monte Carlo incorporate the sounds of particle accelerators and detectors, as well as the ambient sounds of the laboratory itself. The composition feature the deep, rumbling hum of the Large Hadron Collider as it accelerates particles to near the speed of light, interspersed with the high-pitched whine of detectors recording the results of collisions. The piece include field recordings of scientists and engineers at work, as well as the sounds of machinery and equipment used in the research process.

The overall effect it's a mixture of industrial and otherworldly sounds, evoking the cutting-edge technology and scientific experimentation taking place at CERN."
