Case Study: Designing a Cultural Legacy
A Case Study of the Global Entrepreneurship Week Jordan Local Event
Background: Uniting Entrepreneurs Worldwide
Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) is an annual international event that takes place across over 170 countries worldwide. Organized by the Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN), it brings together a network of organizations and individuals who support entrepreneurship. The event is held during the third week of November each year and aims to inspire, educate, and connect entrepreneurs from all backgrounds and sectors. The Jordan Local event is organized by the Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship and aims to provide a platform for entrepreneurs in Jordan to connect, learn, and share ideas.
Objective: Cultural Resonance
The objective of this project was to create an updated visual identity for the Jordan Local event that encapsulates the culture and heritage of Jordan, in order to resonate with entrepreneurs and other participants.
From the North to the South: Inspiration for the Global Entrepreneurship Week Jordan Local Event Visual Identity

The design team drew inspiration from three main references that represent different regions of Jordan: the world's oldest church unearthed in Rihab, the Umayyad Palace located on the Citadel Hill of Amman, and a large painted rose stucco decoration from the Great Temple of Petra. Elements from these references were incorporated into the design and colors from the Jordan flag were used to create a cohesive visual identity.
Design Process: Bringing the Design to Life
The updated visual identity was applied to a range of materials, including posters, rollups, flyers, social media posts, web banners, and a landing page for the agenda. Our goal was to create a design that would resonate with entrepreneurs, so we focused on creating a clear and creative design for the booklet for the week's agenda. We used our knowledge of user-centric design and design thinking to create a modern timeline style for the agenda instead of a table style.
This allowed the reader to easily follow the events using multiple criteria such as time, name, day, and location. Additionally, we used a symmetrical design system to make the layout more balanced and user-friendly. A digital calendar was also created that included all the relevant information for the events taking place during the week.
Implementation: A Successful Identity
The updated visual identity was applied to a range of materials, including posters, rollups, flyers, social media posts, web banners, and a landing page for the agenda. A digital calendar was also created that included all the relevant information for the events taking place during the week.
Conclusion: Partnering for Entrepreneurial Success
This project was an exceptional opportunity to collaborate with the accomplished team at the Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship, comprising of Mohammed Khair Obaidat, Director of Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship, Nada Jaafari, Entrepreneurial Programs Coordinator, and Lara Al Refai.
