Infinite Emphasis

Here is an awesome remake of the first sculpture I ever made. I made it using foam core. Looking at it, it seems simple but on further exploration, it makes you discover that there are a lot going on within the form.

One cool thing about this sculpture is that there is a lot of repetition for emphasis. Squares are cut out and joined repeatedly to get a three dimensional form. The resulting 3D forms of varying sizes are, in turn, repeatedly joined together to make a larger form.

This larger form which is made up of many squares is then inserted into a larger three dimensional form made of much larger squares.

Something else that I think is very cool about this sculpture is that the sculpture gives you an illusion that it continues on. You see this when view the inside of it. The repeated forms seem to converge (they actually do). This thus gives a kind of parallel perspective view. This is like the converging view we see when driving on a straight long road.

The lights that peep through the little openings also create an infinite spark which changes as you approach the figure.

I also like the way the sculpture takes on different meanings when it is made to stand in different ways or bases. So far, I have discovered that this simple form can transform itself into five different forms with five different meanings.
This sculpture is minimalistic, yet, it has an infinite emphasis and can be read in different ways by different people. Please, see a 1.5min video of it here [ http://goo.gl/yJaqgu ].
