The Reptile Wheel

This image is the abstraction of a bike wheel and elements found in nature, i used the textures of six different reptiles. Textures used are from; the standard map turtle, the leatherback turtle, the radiated tortoise, the Egyptian tortoise, the yellow-blotched palm pit viper, and the Dwarf Caiman. This piece also uses multiple mediums graphite, gouache, and ink. The black ink creates the shape of the bike wheel, the inner spokes, treads, and the hub. The white ink makes the Outer spokes that also act as a divider for the six different sections. The gouache on the inside consists of cool colors used for the textures of each reptile. The gouache on the outside uses warm colors to make it look like these warm colors are radiating off the wheel like a sun.
