In our 3rd term in the Digital Design program in Vancouver Film School, we were given the opportunity to work with a real client, BC Children’s Hospital. The challenge was to create an interactive platform and online engagement for one of their major events, Slo-Pitch, which is a 3 day soft ball retreat for companies. Our concept, Catch the Spirit, was inspired from the fact that every team consists of the Spirit of the individuals and so we used the ball as a metaphor for one’s Spirit. By being a team player, you are essentially catching the Spirit. The goal of the project was to fill the 80 spots that are available in the roster as well as increase donations by 50%. For this project, we touched on 4 bases: Experimental marketing, Print, Motion, and Interactive. I was in charge of the entire interactive aspect of the project, including social media campaign and user experience. I was also able to develop 60% of the website, which was good practice for me. I learned a lot during the process and became more comfortable with HTML5/CSS3.
