Illustrated Guide to IBD treatment

A Guide to Remicade (Infliximab)

About the project
There is a lack of paediatric-specific patient information on Remicade for patients to take home after being prescribed Remicade for the treatment of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD).The aim for this book is to show young patients (around 10-12 years) and their families how Remicade works and it is going to help them manage their disease and become better.

These children may have had IBD for several years and have tried other medications up until this point. They may also be patients who have only just been diagnosed and are facing having this lifelong condition that can have a significant effect on their lifestyle, body image and mental health.

They will have likely received this booklet following a consultation with their paediatric gastroenterologist who has just prescribed them with Remicade. They will most likely be overwhelmed with the amount of information. When they walk away from the appointment we want them to be reassured that most of the information that they need to know about their treatment will be covered in this booklet.
The creative approach

The core elements of this booklet were that it was to have a had a hopeful tone, relatable illustrations and key information in easy to understand language and diagrams.

I created a unique hand writing font with the same brush I used for the illustrations.
