COPD is not fatal in and of itself, but as with any chronic disease with no cure, it's possible for COPD to lead to death if you have other health issues such as heart disease, diabetes or kidney failure. COPD is definitely not fatal if you take your meds, follow a strict diet and get enough rest. But some patients who are not well-taken care of or given the proper treatment can die of COPD.
