In Arabic, “Felfel” means pepper and “Boharat” means spice. Cooking a font is a journey; a continuous work in progress, and Felfel is the first member of an upcoming family of ingredients, each with a unique character, weight and flavor for the perfect seasoning.
Felfel is an Arabic typeface inspired by the rich history of the Arabic Ruq’ah, one of the most widely used Arabic calligraphy styles, but with a modern pinch. It’s available in Bold but the rest of the family is on the way with different weights and effects influenced by the visual identity of Egyptian streets.
Born from the fundamental need in the Arabic design scene for versatile Ruq’aa fonts, Felfel is made to celebrate the elegance and timeliness of Arabic calligraphy while solving the problem of the cascading nature of Ruq’ah that results in increased line spacing.
Felfel is space friendly, it saves you space and characters.
It’s a delicious infusion of the familiarity of the Arabic Ruq’ah with a modern take that’s perfect for headlines and quotes. Felfel supports major Arabic-script based languages, and covers Arabic, Hindu and Farsi numbers.
