When approaching this project I wanted to challenge my conceptions about a lamp can do. By using only a single point of contact and support through guide wires, I gave the piece the ability to piviot along an axis. This allows light to be cast in different directions depending upon the users needs.

Tilting to the side
The aluminum point simply rests in a hole secured by wires.
Recessed metal springs keep the wires in constant tension.
Birch bark shade provides a warm glow when backlit.
