Vibrance of Malaysia
An exquisite collection of the interesting people and moments I encountered in the corners of my motherland.
Portraits
An Eternal Pact
11 Nov 2022 | Penang Chinese Town Hall
Showered with blessings, the lovebirds seal their unbreakable pact with a kiss.
The selective colour editing technique plays the role to lower down the background saturation for more emphasis on the subjects.
Longing for Freedom
21 Oct 2022 | KL Bird Park
The parrot's eyes tell me how much it longs to see the world outside the cage.
Portrait mode is used to capture this photo for more details of the subject's facial features and the well-blurred lights at the background created a bokeh effect. The photo was colour graded with a reddish tone to present an unusual ambience of a bird park which is typically surrounded with greens.

An Angel's Smile
28 Nov 2022 | Lorong Panggung
Her sweet smile could warm any lost souls. It's no wonder that her name is Angel.
The bottle in the hand creates a focal point on the subject and it gives more stories to the photo. The bokeh effect was created by the reflection of a prop fairy light placed near the camera lens.
A Beautiful Encounter
20 Nov 2022 | Georgetown, Penang
Her mother named her Janice, which means a gracious gift from God, and I couldn't agree more.
A high shutter speed was set to capture the subject's motion in still. The leaf acted as a small frame to create more depth for the photo. A brownish preset was edited in the photo for a vintage vibe to fit the location.

A Voice in the Corner of the Street
20 Nov 2022 | Georgetown, Penang
His sore voice didn't stop him from strumming his guitar to earn some pennies.
Since the subject is looking at the right direction, the rule of third was applied to place the subject at the left intersection points. The texture of the photo was enhanced to show more vicissitude and the background saturation was decreased for more emphasis on the subject.

Another Day at the Market
20 Nov 2022 | Chowrasta Market
Built in 1890, the oldest market in Penang is still hustling and bustling in the heart of Georgetown, Penang today.
The mid-range shot was colour graded with a blue tint while retaining the colourful features of the vegetables for a more captivating visual enjoyment.
A Comic Came to Life
5 Nov 2022 | Fujiwara Tofu Shop
Insipired by a Japanese comic named Initial D, the cafe serves as a good spot for photos in Subang Jaya.
The photo is a mid-range shot where it focuses on the subject and gives the impression of the location at the same time. Other than the usual yellowish preset, some purple tint was added into the photo to create more colour depths.
A Man with Stories
27 Nov 2022 | Petaling Street
His eyes tell more stories than the newspaper does.
Since the alleyway had a dim lighting, a higher ISO was set to increase the light sensitivity. A green tint was added to increase the emptiness of the alleyway.
A Precious Jewel in the Park
5 Nov 2022 | The Secret Garden, One Utama
The toddler squeals in excitement as she explores more of the hidden rooftop garden in a mall.
The photo is a wide shot to show the balance and interaction between the subject and the scene setting. The hanging plants framed the shot to effectively create a focal point on the subject. The photo was edited with vignette to emphasize the subject.
Historical Sites Can Be Fun Too!
29 Oct 2022 | A'Famosa Fort
No playgrounds around the historical building? No problems for these kids.
The photo is a wide shot as well to show how well the subject blends with the settings by playing with the decorative canon. The saturation of the green plants was decreased to remove any excess colours that would distract the attention away from the subject.
