Brand identity for the “rudest and coolest” bar in Porto

Baixaria (acting rudely in brazilian Portuguese) is one of the most famous bars in downtown (Baixa) Porto. With a raw and unfinished look, it's clearly a "place to be" in Porto's nightlife and has become noticed for its weekly live music concerts.
Baixaria's partners asked VOLTA to create an identity that portrayed the "trashy" meaning of the word and to work with portuguese illustrator Kruella D'Enfer. The result was an identity based on comic books way of displaying insults and bad language, what some call "profanitype". The word was then set in a raw handwritten type and blended with Kruella's multicolored watercolored drawings.
