Region of Heroes - film title.
On the morning of February 24 2022, the first explosions and shots of war caught me and my family at home in Bucha. We witnessed the first attacks of the russian occupiers. We were lucky. We stayed alive.
Six months later, Alex Komarovsky (creative producer) contacted me. My task was to develop the opening credits for a film based on the events I witnessed myself.
The film "Region of Heroes" is the first large-scale film reconstruction of real heroic stories of ordinary Ukrainians. The team dedicated this project to all volunteers of Ukraine who saved and continue to save thousands of lives at the cost of their own lives. The viewer will see a frank film confession about the events that took place in the very hell of the enemy occupation: in Bucha, Vorzel, Gostomel, Irpen and other cities and villages. Each heroic confession is not about one person and his story, but about thousands of Ukrainian volunteers who embody the unbreakable Ukrainian nation.

The whole sequence of opening credits consists of depicting the inner feelings of the main characters. The main technique, double-exposure, was borrowed directly from the True Detective series.
By mixing portraits of the characters with landscapes in which the actual fighting was taking place, we added flames to the frame as a symbol of the emotional storm and the proximity of the deadly flame of war.
