Project Goal: The idea for the card was to make a card that told a story of family traditions
Mood Board: I wanted to focus more of the which pop up aspect I wanted to create to communicate my family holiday tradition. I also tried to pick colors close to Christmas.
Creative Story: My mom's side of the family has a tradition where we celebrate Christmas on New Year's Eve on then celebrate New Years soon after. New Years has become one of my favorite holiday's due to this.
Mock Ups Version 1: For these mockups, I wanted to explore what I could do pop-up wise. That and I wanted to see what was capable with the story I wanted to tell.
Mock Ups Version 2 & 3: These mockups came a lot easier after making the first 8. Mockup V2, I had a lot of blank space and had people inside the design. I didn't like the way it looked, so I brought more color in V3 and also took the people out.
Final Design: The final design I came up with is a more neutral toned color theme. I also wanted to give the inside a fuller feel to it, but also leave room for writing a personal message on the right side. I made the tree a different paper pop up so it would be easier to open and close without it breaking. I also gave the fireplace candles, stockings, and a present on top. Overall, I'm very happy with my progress.
