The Seven Deadly Sins

My task was to develop a series of seven graphic compositions that communicate the seven sins to be printed as an 11.37"×14.96" tabloid. I maintained image fidelity through the design process and considered the color space (adjusting levels and contrast) to correctly set up my tabloid for print. In this collection of compositions, I chose to adhere to a 1950s theme and play with the stark difference between black and white and color. Follow this link to my dropmark to view my process.
The front cover: who's arm is this? A snack peak that will make sense the more you look.
What are the infamous "seven deadly sins"?
Betty Brosmer: one of America's first supermodels known as “the impossible waist”. She was the pinup girl of the 1950s
Is that a giant olive? This work displays an over-exaggeration and comical approach to the sin of gluttony.
Money money money—does this make you think of Mr. Krabs? A composition on greed showcasing how money can make people do ugly things.
Sloth: not like the animal although it was derived from it. Nothing wrong with a bit of a lazy day right? As long as your clothes don't float off...
Don't you hate it when sweet little Sally bombs Lego City? Wrath: disproportionate anger, the most childish sin.
Plain and simple isn't so bad, always be thankful for what you have. Wow, that rhymes...
Pride: holding the highest opinion of yourself, sometimes belittling others in the process. There's nothing quite like seeing yourself on every screen.
A bit more on pride...
That's whose arm that was! Whoever created this book really wanted Marilyn to be portrayed as prideful.
