Paintball Maze

Description:
Paintball Maze is a first person shooter style game where the player is stuck inside of a maze. While trying to find the exit, the player has targets that they can shoot to increase their score. Since the maze is navigated in first person, players can easily get lost, using the paintballs to mark paths that they have traveled can allow players to keep track of where they have been. The player's score is increased for every target they hit while decreased based on number of shots taken and how long it took them to find the exit. This leads to in interesting decision the player needs to make because getting to the exit the fastest will not end in the highest score.

Reflection:
I would describe the process of creating this project as refreshing because I was able to create anything I wanted to. Unlike previous projects that were either mostly blueprints or C++, for this project I tried to use a combination of both. Using both gives the designer more freedom to make what they want while having the strength of both design methods at their disposal. I learned a lot about the engine while trying to find the best method for creating what I needed. Challenges I faced while creating this project is that the versions of the software I used were older versions and finding documentation was harder than for more current versions. Feedback for a project like this is important due to the nature of this project being an open canvas. Good feedback can open a lot of creative doors when the project is not designed around a specific idea. Feedback is what lead to the ability for the targets to shut off if the player gets to close. If the targets did not shut off then the player would not be rewarded for accuracy as they could just walk up and shoot the target. The project improved by becoming an actual game with an objective that is enjoyable and has replayability. The original project was mainly an assignment for the paintballs, now the player has an objective and the paintballs have a purpose as a tool to help the player navigate the maze.
