You’re working on your laptop or reading a book when you hear that elusive sound of a notification. Your first reaction is grabbing the phone hoping it’s a message from someone that you’ve been waiting for; however, as it turns out, you’ve only received another app notification. You get slightly irritated and swipe away the notification with a cursory glance. And before you know, your notification bar is filled with push notifications (PNs) that you can’t even differentiate, thanks to the hackneyed usage of discounts and keywords by all brands. You feel like instead of your crush, you’re being pursued by a brand! And even after you ‘swipe left’, this pursuer keeps coming back!



Moral Of The Story:
If user engagement is the love interest that your brand, as a protagonist, is trying to woo through PNs in a Bollywood romance, then cliche formats and unimaginative content is the toughest villain standing in your way. And the only way this movie can have a happy ending is when you understand what your love interest aka users actually want, respect their wishes, and solve their pain points!
