In this project, I created an infographic poster and animation of a local dish, sticky rice dumplings (also known as bak chang).
Through my poster and infographic poster, the main aspects of the dish that I wanted to highlight was that there are countless of flavours to choose from, as well as the time-consuming process that it takes to actually make a dumpling.
In this infographic poster, I was inspired by a claw machine and decided to incorporate it since I felt that it could represent both the flavours of sticky rice dumplings being on display as well as imitate how these sticky rice dumplings are hung up as a bunch at stalls.
In this infographic animation, I wanted to convey that making sticky rice dumplings takes a very time-consuming process. I made use of a simple, flat style of illustration, as well as the same colour palette in my infographic poster to maintain consistency.
I also wanted to add a fun hook, so the introduction of my animation shows the context of the character being in line and deciding what sticky rice dumpling to get. This connects to the conclusion where the stall owner calls out for the next person in line to order.
