Oil activity is intense on the southeast coast of Brazil. In recent decades, the oil industry has profoundly transformed the economy of Brazilian producing municipalities, establishing a new cycle and accelerating the growth of these cities.
One of the biggest environmental impacts of this activity is oil leakage, accidents on oil platforms or oil tankers can cause serious damage to the environment, since for the waste from this activity, it is estimated that more than 50% of them are hazardous waste, which have any of the following characteristics: flammability, corrosivity, reactivity, toxicity or pathogenicity.
