catalog Wabi-sabi
Japan Museum SieboldHuis

Wabi-sabi is a feeling that is difficult to explain. No definition can be found. It is the aesthetic feeling you can experience when something is beautiful precisely because it is unfinished, imperfect or just simple. The term has merged from wabi, the melancholy beauty of desire, and sabi, the patina of age. In combination they describe the melancholy that arises when experiencing this kind of beauty.

The exhibition and publication are an invitation to discover elements of this Japanese aesthetic in the work of renowned national and international photographers and ceramists.
For the catalog we have created the wabi-sabi feeling with two types of paper, a simple layout, the binding method and with a dreaded rough edge.
