Clinton Hill, the neighborhood, where this public library is located is becoming increasingly expensive with very little
new construction. New housing is very important to the sustained vitality of the area.

Additionally, the library was built in 1973 and while the neighborhood has grown there have been no new libraries
in the area since. Libraries are a critical extension of the home for all generations - Clinton Hill’s library needs to be renovated to better meet its constituents’ needs.

The goal of this project was to enlarge the library to meet the needs of the neighborhood residents and by creating new housing above the library.
The object fits into the context of the surrounding development being on the verge of needs and increasing the number of floors.
Stepping back preserves the historically formed silhouette and creates a terrace for library users.
The vegetable garden located on the terrace, as well as the library, is the most important core of interaction between neighbors.
The optimum use of daylight has a vital role in sustainable and high-performance architecture. Thus, it is influential in the health quality of the building users in addition to reducing energy consumption. Using a daylight control system on building skin has a positive impact on the reduction of electric energy consumption, thermal behavior of the building, and natural lighting quality of the space. Vertical louvers are one of the most effective systems controlling daylight, and they reduce the amount of glare inside the building in addition to controlling daylight.
