Vazrajdane quarters regeneration plan
The purpose of the project was regenerating a piece of the city center which plays important part in the urban silhouette and residential functions of "Vazrazhdane quarters" in Sofia, Bulgaria. Generally we organized more green zones and open spaces for recreation, playgrounds and sports areas. The existing area is overbuilt with very high residential buildings. Building scale is oversized and was considered a new approach in residential architecture during the years of socialism Sofia went through. There are too many spots in the inner zones between the buildings which originally were planned to be relaxing but they lack connection to the natural surrounding and become abandoned. So as a result we proposed residential building units with rectangular shape and at the same time well situated and oriented room spaces which communicate with one another.
