Digital Rendition - R. Curtis "Return From the Lido" 1884

For this Digital I composition we were asked to build the value of an original composition using different layers and mixing brushes or blending modes. I chose to focus on and change elements such as objects with line weight and color. In my digital rendition of Ralph Wormeley Curtis’s traditional painting “Return From the Lido” in 1884, I wanted to emphasize the seamless curves that liquids form creates that I noticed slightly in the original painting with the ripples and colors changing in the water, so adding different scaled lines and blended colors in that area gave the appearance of deep waves. I also changed the colors in the sky and landscape plane to more vibrant and bold colors that would be more commonly used and seen in modern art to show more intense depth and complexity.
