Type/ology is a metadesign research. A study to celebrate the letters of the alphabet as an image, removing their significance and elevating them from their communication mediator’s roles. It is designed to show the shapes as abstract geometric elements, composed of full or empty parts, curved or broken lines.
The study was divided in two moments, a theorical and a empirical one. In the first the studies were focused on the concept of language, on the visual perception and on the techniques to occupy a surface.
The second moment started with a work on the division of a surface with a fundamental module built with the horizontal and vertical reflection of a same letter following a strict rule defined by me. Every process and every experiment of the empirical phase were carried out analitically, to better control the creation moment and the final result.
