Georgian tea harvest

According to some historical data, tea appeared in Georgia for the first time in 1770 when the Russian Empress Catherine II presented the Georgian King Irakli II with a teapot and a tea set. There is an assumption that the first tea bush in Georgia appeared 208 years ago in the courtyard of Prince Gurieli (hence the name of the most popular Georgian tea brand today). By the time of the emergence of the Soviet Union, tea production was widely spread throughout Western Georgia. In the best of times, up to 100,000 tons of tea per year were collected here from a territory with a total area of over 65,000 hectares of land.
