Local Dish Infographic Animation
School Project, 2021
Purpose:
For this project, we had to create an infographic video to share how our chosen local dish came to be in an exciting and engaging way. Since this project was connected to the infographic poster project that I did, I decided to use the story that I have gathered from my research for that project to share the story of how Laksa came to be.
Role:
This was an individual assignment.
Concept:
Referencing to the story of how Laksa came to be from the infographic poster, I elaborated more on how Laksa came to be by showing how it is a product of cultural intermarriage. I also shared how Laksa spread most rapidly throughout South East Asia due to it's adaptability to different cultures which makes it a dish that is enjoyed throughout all South East Asian countries.
Storyboarding / Sketches:
I started the process by sketching the storyboard and made sure that I set the storyline so that I know what I should illustrate. This is also when I started considering the different animations that I do for each frame so that all of the illustrations are connected.
Moodboard and Visual Inspiration:
After the sketches, I then researched on some of the colours, fonts as well as art styles for the illustrations.
Illustrations:
I then began illustrating each frame based on the drawings and sketches that I did for the storyboarding.
Final Infographic Video:
After illustrating all of the frames, I transferred the illustrations to AE and started animating it. I also managed to self-learn some animating techniques such as using the presets and as well as the 3D camera. I also added my voiceover as well as the background music and this is how it turned out.
