My design for The Outsiders is based around one character in particular - Johnny. After the fire, his character changes. The earlier events of the story become almost insignificant as Johnny pays the ultimate price for saving the lives of others. I have used charcoal to create the whole book cover to suggest the charred remains of the church, all that's left after the fire.
