The project
Splitted is an interactive transmedia narrative inspired by the Sustainable Development Goal 11: “Sustainable Cities and Communities”. It addresses to young adults who, living the story as the main character, experience the impact of individual’s actions on sustainability. Since the target is composed of digital natives, the project unfolds on multiple online platforms connected through a website.
The storyworld
As a metaphor for a non-sustainable development and inequalities between social classes caused by it, we ideated a future dystopian storyworld.
The story is set in the city of Aether that, by 2281, endured a rapid height growth caused by people trying to survive to the Earth’s desertification. This unsustainable development led not only to a division of the population in three parts, according to their wealth - Submitia, Dimitia and Editia - but also to an internal split of Aether between Spirit and Mind, causing tragic accidents, especially in Submitia, which made the younger generation striving for a change.
