Mata Najwa

Mata Najwa (the eye of Najwa), established in 2009, is a leading and progressive journalistic program based in Indonesia. Founded and led by Najwa Shihab, Mata Najwa has been uncovering crucial social and political issues in Indonesia through intensive investigations, discourses, and talk shows. Broadcasted on national tv to audiences all over Indonesia, listening through open-for-all unheard voices through letters, and confrontative inquiries to public policy makers, making it a representation of the people’s voice. This early year POT Branding House helps rearticulate and transform Mata Najwa’s identity to open a new journalism journey, encapsulated with “Melihat Lebih Dekat (Look Closer)” message.
This visual identity extends the eye of Najwa Shihab through 3 layers of perspective: the eye of Najwa Shihab as the program developed into a more in-depth and field investigation of her, a parenthesis portraying explanation and afterthoughts, and the third symbolizing the amplification of information as an echo resembles its mother brand visual identity; Narasi. The typography is designed to keep the integrity of Indonesia’s familiar, timeless journalism roots, yet, crafted with a contemporary shape to represent its progressive value. The visual system is designed to bridge traditional editorial with digital languages– interactive, animated, and digitally colored.
