Entry for 2014's Secret 7" brief. 

 

I chose Lorde's song 'Team' & took inspiration from the imagery of environments expressed within the song. I felt the song depicted a place outside of reality, somewhere between dystopia & utopia. I built upon this by experimenting with photographs of buildings; changing perceptions of their environments by repeatedly distorting them in numerous ways. 

 

Four 7" vinyl sleeves were created from my visual experiments, with a dark theme throughout which was drawn from the dark tones within the song. I developed a distorted typeface which is presented in the promotional poster for the single using lyrics from the song, as well as a new logo for Lorde.
