Project Statement
When developing my birdhouse, I wanted explore my bird's behaviors in a whimsical way. I found in my research that Yellow-Throated Honeyeaters avidly enjoy using human and animal hair to make their nests. Using this understanding, I created a hairbrush-like nesting box. My final deliverable has a hollowed brush head where the bird can build their nest and protruding dowels that offer a spot to perch or for the owner of the box to string their own hair through. My hope was that this box would foster a mutually beneficial relationship between humans and this bird.
