ritual + repair
I drew on my values of sustainable, zero-waste, closed-loop designs to recreate the packaging for sunscreen and aloe-vera in response to the overarching theme of ritual and repair. Typically, sunscreen and aloe-vera are packaged in plastic, non-renewable materials. I believe this is in direct contrast to the inherent connection that sunscreen and aloe-vera have to the environment. In this way, it provided an opportunity to redesign the packaging and hence marketing of the products.

The outcome was two bamboo, refillable containers created in organic, fluid shapes that pay homage to nature. The chosen colours help achieve the modern, playful, yet relaxed aesthetic that is distinctive, pleasing to the eye and elevates the status of these products making them seem luxurious.

In this project, I integrated my knowledge of Graphics with Marketing to explore how every-day products could be made more sustainable while meeting the aesthetic quality needs of the consumer.
