For this brief, I worked on a series of philosophical books by Alain De Botton and

I experimented with white backgrounds, coloured backgrounds, images that wrapped around the cover, images that bled off the cover, and different layouts and styles of type. After some discussion, I felt that my simpler sans-serif type separated from the image was working better than the others.
I decided to go with photographed origami as I liked the way that origami could be used to represent more complex ideas and objects with simple structures (much like the books themselves). I also personally liked the aesthetic and thought they looked sophisticated yet appealing as graphics for my covers. Following this theme, I also used the sans-serif typeface “Montserrat” for the text on the covers. I added a paper texture to the covers to act as the background/whitespace of the covers since it gave them a nice texture and remained consistent with the paper theme. A final edit that I made to these covers was the addition of the cardboard from the main images to the spine and
back of the cover.
