Mural "Overcoming Adversity" drawn live for Discover Bucks Museum, Aylesbury
A live mural completed by myself and Ben Laferlla (Artist/Culture Curator) for the "Together we Build" project celebrating 10 years since the London Paralympics in London. Depicting the Paralympic Story originating at Stoke Mandeville Hospital in 1948. Personal stories tell how Bucks Heroes including Paralympian Archer Val Williamson competing betweenn 1980-1992 with a silver medal at Arnham in 1980. She overcome adversity in many ways, crawling until she was ten. An ingenious device first developed at the Spinal Injuries unit in the 60's was the Possum (top left). This device helped patients with paralysis to operate from blowing into a mouth piece, a telephone, typewriter and as a call device in the ward. Significantly aiding independence and self esteem. The mural was commissioned by Hannah Ellams  'Bucks Heroes Project Manager for Discover Bucks, a project collecting 100 stories of Buckinghamshire people over 2022-23
