Nautilidae is a research project about shapes: looking at forms not as they are, but as they could be.
The research is divided into three phases: what it is (analysis), what it does (evolution) and what it becomes (summary).
My intention was to inspect the evolution, to see what are the permanent features while the sahpes chages.

By starting from a grid of six columns I’ve drawn a line formed by six angles. According to precise rules (the line could be repeated and rotated inside a square area) I’ve analyzed the evolution of the shape.
With this process and starting from the same module, I obtained complex images very different one to the other.

By synthesizing the resulting images, I’ve developed them tridimensionally with handmade pottery.
