Movie Moment - Star Wars Remake - Final Photo

Star Wars Remake
Princess Leia and R2D2

Original Photo
This is my final photo chosen from my photoshoot. As the backdrop wasnt wide enough I needed to edit this in photo shop to allow the background the room it needs. My image has to be cut to certain dimensions so I managed to get this look very realistic in post production. In the middle of the photo is a light source that was used to create the orb that can be seen in the original photograph. The tripod stand that the light was on also needed to be removed from the photograph in photoshop in order for the image to look more realistic. Below is my final photograph after editing.
My final photo remake
This photograph is a remake of the image of Princess Leia and R2D2. I have worked off inspiration in my research and tried to better what I have already seen. I have put myself and my other model in the photograph to re-create a sexy version of Princess Leia and R2D2. This is done using a forest backdrop, I wanted to set the scene and make my photograph look like it could have been part of the film. I think the backdrop works really well and as it is not specifically Star Wars can be used again on future photo shoots. I have also added the orb that you see in the original photo into my photograph. I think this looks really realistic and even better quality than the original. I am really happy with my Movie Moments photograph and think I have completed this assignment very well. I chose this for my final photograph because I believe me and my friend engage well together and look as though we are talking to each other just like Princess Leia and R2D2. I also believe that we are both is poses that work well together and we both make really interesting shapes.

Creative Direction
My intention was to recreate the Star Wars photograph but add a 'sexy' feel to the original. In my research I discovered a version of this that I wanted to make better. See below.
I wanted my photograph to seem more realistic and as though it was a part of the actual movie whilst also keeping the edge of sexiness. I believe I have achieved this well with my photograph. In a previous behance project you can see a lot of the different poses me and my friend got in to make a variety within my photographs. If I were to create a more serious version of the photograph it would be very difficult due to the machinery that is in the original so the way I have done this works best. I wanted to make me and my friend seem as though we are looking at each other just like the original photograph.

Location
My photograph was taken in the photography studio. I used a backdrop to create the scenery and also added some leaves to emphasise the forest look. This also helps to add some depth to the photograph. Due to the blue 'futuristic' look of the backdrop I couldn't include too many leaves as they were such a green colour.

Models
My friend Lauren and myself.

Wardrobe and Styling
Princess Leia costume hired from a costume shop for the shoot.
White dress with a belt. Two buns on the side of the head like Princess Leia has in the film. See below.

R2D2 is a costume bought online designed for R2D2. The costume helps to add to the sexy feel rather than dressing as the machinery itself.
Technical Considerations

Lights
The lighting of this photograph took near to 3 hours to get perfect. We did a lot of light testing for this shoot to make sure that it was perfect. For the lighting me and Lauren were lit from the front using a soft box. We also lit the background to add some depth and colour as it was very dark. The other source of light comes from in between myseld and Lauren. This was a light on a tripod that was reflected into the camera to create the orb that is seen in the original photograph.

The camera used was a Nikon D90.

Action
This shoot took roughly 5 hours to complete. With the lighting taking 3 hours and the photographs the remaining two. All together there were over 300 photographs taken with a variety of poses, this gave me plenty to choose from for my final photograph.

Experimenting with poses allowed me to compare the different photographs and decide on the positioning of both myself and Lauren that worked the best. I am extremely happy with my final photograph. After the editing this has created what I believe to be a very well produced parody remake of the original photograph. I think it is very recognisable and looks like it could belong to the film.
