Blog Five: The Artistic Challenge of
Life Drawing
Here are some of the best projects I have completed in my Life Drawing class. Initially, in high school, I took art classes that primarily taught students how to draw original pieces, so it came easy to me when my college professor expected realistic drawings. However, this class has tested my skills and experience, making me question my understanding of the structure of the human face. As an artist that primarily draws people, I should've had a better understanding of the proportions and arrangement of the face, on the other hand, I am glad for the opportunity to expand my knowledge and training for future art. During these eight weeks this class has revealed my pros and cons as an artist.
Pros:
1. Learning the structure/levels of the face
2. More time practicing traditional art
3. Drawing males and females
4. Using new drawing tools to make my work look more realistic and bring out the highlights and shadows
5. Exercising various shading styles/techniques
Cons:
1. TIME CONSUMING (took me 8 consecutive hours to finish the female muscle project)
2. Prying at my perfectionism
3. Procrastinating on getting the project completed
4. Breaking/Wearing down tools
5. Value scale
