Festival of Falling Leaves is a unique annual fest held in old industrial city of Łódź. Time is mid-autumn, leaves are really falling and it's fun to make fun of them. We were invited to film an event video about the festival, and it turned out to be a love song to mid-autumn. Festival guests are rebelling against coldness; creating very warm and cozy things with their hands on 8 different spots.
This film is slower then most of ours, yet it has the same dynamics and a well-paced rhythm, combined with simple and delightful shots of details, surroundings and people. It's essential for me to create a sense of rhythm in a film, to make it well worth watching and satisfying, grabbing attention with colours, subjects and with the edit itself.
Even though it may not seem that way, it was a very express film finalized in 3 days, giving the client a nice package of formats suited to different social medias. The aesthetic was inspired by my favourite recent music videos, by 60s-70s English cinema, Leonard Cohen, Arctic Monkeys and by the mood of autumn Lodz. Let the leaves fall down again next year.
