The Anatomy of the "Pure Madness" Illustration.
~ A Tribrute to the Players of the NCAA March Madness College Basketball Tournament ~
I started with a sketch I did of a basketball. Using the natural lines of the basketball, a face evolved in the sketch. I drew teeth, lips, and eyes into the ball. Then I scanned what you see here.
In Photoshop, I cleaned up the sketch and tweaked the levels and contrast.
A basic "basketball orange" was added all over.
Some highlighting was done in broad strokes.
More highlights and details were added to the face.
An outer glow was created and added around the ball.
Lastly, the title was added to the final product. ... Pure Madness.
