Jérémy Bellina

Jérémy Bellina is a French potter who runs his ceramic studio in Berlin. There he creates and sells utilitarian objects such as vases, cups and plates. In addition, he works on free art objects and gives pottery courses. As an autodidact, Jérémy's main focus is on the explorative process and the fun of new techniques, forms and textures. On the other hand, the studio is a place of retreat and tranquillity for Jérémy, where he synchronises and decelerates with the slow working process while making pottery. The forms and textures of his works also move in a field of tension between expressive liveliness and absolute clarity, simplicity and tranquillity. The newly developed visual identity picks up on these contrasts of his personality and work and translates them into a graphic and photographic visual language. The result is a visual balance of energetic colour, calm typography and photographs in an interplay of soft light, straight and dynamic perspectives, strong pictorial depth and warm grain.

This project was created as part of a collaboration with Domestika and will be available there as an online course. In the course I show why it makes sense to combine photography and graphic design and what my working process looks like on a project that incorporates these two disciplines. The aim is to show how a client meeting serves as the basis for a consistent concept idea and how this then serves as a common thread leading through the graphic concept and the implementation of a consistent photographic visual language. As the final project of the course, I create a brand book in which all graphic design elements are brought together with the imagery.
