Self-administering eye-drops can be a chore for a lot of people. A few of the reasons are illustrated in the image above.
I wanted to create a product that would be a bridge between the eye and the eye-dropper. The base would help keep the eye open and the top would secure nozzles of different sizes.
I experimented with different materials and manipulating existing products. Trying them out of various people's eyes helped me narrow down on a general shape.
This is Spot! Made of transparent, medical-grade silicone, Spot can be collapsed to half its size for portability. The top of the product can be cleaned with a drop of the user's eye-dropper liquid to temporarily sanitize before inserting the nozzle in.
The dropper is secured straight on top to align with the eye. The base of the product is placed over the open eye, in order to prevent blinking. The transparency of the material allows the user to see the drop coming.
A product like this could be very useful for regular eye drop users- eg: glauoma patients or people whose eyes dry out frequently.
