Facebook App for Travellers

This is a conceptualization of a Facebook app that synchronizes with WaarBenJij.Nu. WaarBenJij.Nu offers Dutch travellers an online platform to collect and share everything concerning their journey. From Logs/Diaries to photos & videos.

One of my friends used WaarBenJij.Nu for her internship in the Dutch Antilles, but I thought it too inconvenient to check her WaarBenJij.Nu page everytime I thought about it, just to find she hadn't updated anything since last time. I got the idea for a Facebook app, so her friends on Facebook would not have to check another platform for every update, but could just do that within Facebook.
The look & feel of the app. All in Facebook's style.
This app collects everything a person posts on their WaarBenJij.Nu profile, but also automatically posts an update on that person's wall. So their friends & family stay up-to-date on his or her travelling activities.

This app excists out of:
1. A "Home" page. This page shows the person's profile and a chronological overview of all uploaded data.
2. A page with just updates. This page needs to be seen as a sort of diary. Here you find a chronological overview of just the logs.
3. A Video & photo page. Here the uploaded photos and videos are shown.
4. An "In The Area" page. On this page you can find fellow travellers nearby and contact them via facebook.
Wireframe 1. The "home" page of the app.

1. Navigation with: 'Overview', 'Logs', 'Photos', 'Videos', and 'In The Area'.
2. Bar with sliding photos, in chronological order. These are clickable and will enlarge in a lightbox.
3. Title bar with the sort of update underneath. (log, photo, video)
4. Profile bar containing personal information. On the right the local weather and time.
5. Message update.
6. Photo update.
7. Video update.
The home page is the first page you see when you open the application. On top there's a navigation bar with tabs of the different pages.
Beneath that there's a row of photos that slide from right to left, starting with the last uploaded photo. This way the app stays looking new and relevant during the entire trip.
Wireframe 2. The profile bar with personal information and the local time and weather.

1. Profilephoto for the WaarBenJij.Nu app.
2. Travelling status + contact information.
3. Phone number.
4. Skype button to phone this person.
5. Degrees in Celsius.
6. Local time.
7. Last known location of residence.
The profile bar will be right below the photos. In this bar you can see the contact information of the person that is travelling, like the adress. Now friends and family can still secretly send you a birthday card without asking.

This bar also contains the traveller's phone number and a skype button. Now you can call this person immediately through Skype, right out of the app.

On the right side there's some local information, like the place, country, time and weather of the place the traveller is right that moment. Especially the time might be convenient if you wanna call that person, you don't want to call them at 4 a.m. right?

This bar also contains the travelling status, like; 'still home', 'getting there', 'travelling', 'travelling through', 'getting back', and 'back home'.
Wireframe 3. How the updates will look.

1. Respond + Like bar. Here users can like or respond to the content of this update.
2. Phone icon, that gets posted with all SMS-messages. Left aligned.
3. The SMS-message. Left aligned.
4. Photos. Clickable to be enlarged in a lightbox.
5. Title of the log report. Centered.
6. The log report. Centered.
7. Thumbnail of the uploaded video.
8. Title of the video.
Wireframe 4. The 'In The Area' page.

1. GoogleMaps.
2. Own location.
3. Other traveller nearby.
4. Expanding menu with the other person's age and link to their Facebook profile.
A new added functionality is the "In The Area" page. Right now you can't see other travellers nearby on WaarBenJij.Nu, but I thought it might be fun to get in touch with them if there are any.

On the map there's profile photos of anyone nearby with an expandable menu to send them a quick Facebook message and maybe the possibility of meeting up. This is perfect for the lone traveller or if you're doing an internship abroad, it might be nice to have someone speaking your own language and to be able to exchange tips and experiences over beers.
