Penguin Competition Entry - The Big Sleep.
The brief was to redesign the cover for Raymond Chandler’s ‘The Big Sleep’ based on the character Philip Marlowe, a private detective. My design was influenced by the theme with the use of typewriter inspired typography.
Each book in the series is distinguishable by the coloured lines that run around the front, spine and back cover and the Philip Marlowe series is distinguished through the line drawing of the detective.
The original brief was to produce a cover for just ‘The Big Sleep’ but I expanded this to cover more of the series to make sure my design fitted varying title sizes.
