IDIOZINE (a project by Tana Pistorius & Frederika Fourie) explores language, local idioms, slang and phrases. I selected the isiZulu idiom, "Isitsha esihle asidleli" which translates to 'A nice plate is not long eaten from'. This phrase means that something that at first appears good might end up being something bad.

This piece explores seeking out experiences that are meant to make one feel fulfilled. However, this fulfilment is temporary. In this the 'sacred' (modern church culture) and the 'profane' (gay hookup culture) are presented, not as opposites, but as parallel experiences.
