Art and technology for the environment
Art, technological innovation, communication and environmental sustainability are the focus of Tec Art Eco art and technology for the environment, promoted by Ariella Vidach - AiEP Association (MILAN) and Avventure in Elicottero Prodotti (LUGANO) with the support of the P.O. di Cooperazione Transfrontaliera Italia - Svizzera / FESR - Fondo Europeo di Sviluppo Regionale.A cultural project that travels within the Insubrica region (Lugano-Como-Gallarate) focused on the role of new technologies as a means for creating a pioneering model of cultural eco-sustainab le event that stands the test of time. A three-year programme (2009-2011) of interdisciplinary festivals, productive labs, workshops and discussions with international guests.
The concept behind Tec Art Eco's graphic design style is sustainability, by saving ink as much as possible and making it part of the design choice itself. This explains why we chose only 2 print colours and inserted pictures in circular and "striped" shapes, this way the picture is fully perceived but also saves ink by omitting a part of it. The use of stripes recurs also when there are full dark backgrounds and blacks are always used with an 80% percentage instead of 100% solid.To be consistent with the eco concept, we used Fedrigoni Freelife Vellum a recycled, chlorine free paper.
Wewished to use sustainable ink as well, but when the project began in 2009, there wasn't awareness in Italy by typographers and printers, and costs would be out of budget.
