Red Anchor Cigar Company

In the late Eighteenth Century, Cigar smoking began catching on in New England and the Atlantic coast of North America. At the time Cigars were almost entirely homemade and generally rolled by farm wives. The Red Anchor Cigar Company, founded in 1770 were the first tobacconist to set up shop in the New World. 
The client was looking for a branding system that would reflect its storied history as well as appeal to the modern cigar enthusiast.
Drafts: My first thought was to surround an antique clipper ship's anchor with tobacco leaves and mooring lines. 
Drafts: I applied handlettering in the style of an 18th century American clipper ship.

Logo:  A design featuring an antique anchor surrounded by tobacco leaves and mooring lines to represent a 21st century North American cigar company with a 244 year history.
