ACTIVITY 2 Game Analysis

BATTLESHIP

When I played battleship I felt kind of confused because I thought I had a good idea of how to play but when we were setting up I realized that I might have been messing up some parts of the setup. Because we took a while to set up the game, by the time we actually started the game it was time to switch over to the next game. However, though we only played for a little bit of time it was still quite fun in the end.

The thing I liked the most of this game was picking the right spot and hitting one of my enemies' bigger battleships.

The thing that I didn’t like about the game was that I found the instructions just a bit confusing since it seemed quite short.

A player needs to have experience and good knowledge of the game in order to pick good spots to place their ships so that their opponents won’t hit them and to know some of the most common places that other people would put their battleships in order for them to destroy the other person's battleship first.

I actually don’t think I would really change anything about the game other than the instruction manual because of how confused I was. Even though I know a lot people don’t like to read a bunch of instructions on board games, personally I would like a more detailed explanation of how to play Battleship.

I would rate it a 7.8 out of 10 because although I found the instruction manual a bit confusing once I started to get a grasp of how to play the game properly It was quite fun.

Black Jack

When I played black jack like battleship I was a bit confused but not for the reason that my memory of the game was foggy this time but because I was learning how to play it for the very first time. However, once I started to learn how the game worked It started to become fun.

The thing I liked most about Black Jack is that it had both a skill and chance factor to the game at the same time since although you get two cards to start you have the choice if you want to get a 3rd random card to see if my add up to 21 or at least be the closest to it.

I didn’t like how short the game was.

It's a game where you have two or more players that have to try to get 2 or more random cards that add up to 21 or is closest to 21 first. If both players don’t have 2 or more random cards from the deck that add up to 21 then whoever has 2 or more cards that up the closest to 21 they would win. Like a 10 of spades and a Jack of hearts.

If I could change the game I would somehow make the game longer by implementing some other rule. Possibly by changing the goal from being first to get two or more cards that add up to 21 or the closest to 21, to first to get multiple cards that add up to 50 or the closest to 50.

I would rate the game a 6 out of 10 because the game does feel a bit too short but it’s still quite fun though for the short game that it is.

JENGA

I felt a lot of tension during the game because you never would know when you might be the person that causes the tower to fall.

The thing I like most about the game Jenga is that it is a very skilled base game where you have to be very careful which block you choose to remove from the tower and how you remove it.

To be honest I can’t really think of anything I dislike about Jenga because overall the game is quite fun.

In Jenga all you have to do win is not be the person that causes the tower to fall down. The person who causes the tower to fall is the only loser so if there are multiple playing the game then there could be multiple winners.

Honestly, I don’t think I would really change anything in Jenga because the game already seems to have quite a great design already.

I would rate the game a 10 out of 10 because the designers have done an excellent job designing the game and how it works making it quite easy for anyone to understand how to play the game.

WAR

While playing War I felt a bit bored because the game is very simple and is purely a chance based game.

The thing I like most about War is that you never know who could win since it’s purely chance based because at one point in the game someone could be dominating then the at another point they could be on the verge of losing.

The thing I dislike about War is that it’s solely chance based so the winner of the game is already predetermined once all the cards are dealt out.

1 player needs to have every card in the game to win.

I would not change anything about War because the simplicity of the game makes it quite easy for all ages of people to learn how to play.

I would rate the game War a 6.5 out of 10 because the game is fairly simple which makes it get quite boring after a while. However, because of the unpredictability of the game it can still be fun for 1 match.

BARNYARD

While playing Barnyard I felt on the edge of my seat because I never knew when someone would have the same number card as me. Also, I felt like my brain just froze whenever someone had the same number card as me and I had to blurt out the noise that their animal makes.

The thing I like most about the game Barnyard is that it is a fast paced and intense game that you must pay good attention to in order to win.

The thing that I didn’t like about Barnyard is that I had to memorize the animal everyone chose and the sound they made because I had a hard time remembering all of them.

To win a player has to be good at memorizing things and speaking fast. The reason why is because you have to be able to memorize all the animals that the other players chose, what sound they make and be able to say it before the other player who has the same number card as you says your chosen animal’s noise. The goal of the whole game is to have no cards left first before the other player(s).

If I had the chance to change the game I would add that each player must have a piece of paper, write down the name of the animal they chose and show the name of the animal once per round.

I would rate the game Barnyard a 8.5 out of 10 because it really quite a fun game but the memorizing part of the game I’m personally not the biggest fan of.
