From Blender to Unity.
An exploration of possibilities.
On my journey of learning Blender I had one particular thing in mind. Combining Blender with Unity. Why stop with Blender when you can go all the way and create surreal interactive 3D user experiences also?

I always loved games, but more from a visual perspective. So of course I wanted to learn how to create these things that before just seemed far out of reach. Turns out, it's actually not that difficult at all. What you need is patience, a curious mindset and a will to experiment.

See this as a visual log of the things I managed to learn so far, just fiddling with Unity for about half a month learning how to apply physics, how to setup a High Definition Rendering Pipeline, how to add post processing effects and much much more!

I have no aspiration of becoming a serious game developer 🎮 any time soon.
I just want to expand my creative arena a bit further and reach a deeper understanding of the mechanics behind art in games.

It's also nice to combine art with music so I added a very ambient track I created several years ago.
One of the coolest things in Unity is to add local effects 🌈
This is how this little project ended up looking. Pretty neat…
Hello little friend! So you found your way in here, didn't you? 😺🧡
Importing from Blender to Unity.
Turns out, Unity supports importing your whole .blend file, just like that. Of course there's more to this workflow, but actually I found importing the whole file a very good foundation to get started. It beats staring at a blank enormous 3D space any given day of the week 🤣

Also, I didn't have a plan for this, my mindset is more of a "let's see if this works" kind of approach. I find it a very easy way of learning new skills. Further down the road, the more you learn, the easier it gets to prepare and plan. At the moment, I'm in full Exploration Mode and just having a really good time.
I also figured out how to add very simple on-screen UI elements, like these…
The terrain tool in Unity is excellent and intuitive to use
This is basically how the original Blender scene file looked like…
