This was PART of a dream project of mine, fueled by intense ambition and ignited by the opportunity offered by my academic mentor who I am forever in debt to.
Tron Legacy was a movie I saw by chance, but it made its place in my psyche since its release in 2010. It has influenced my art style and introduced me to the cyberpunk genre.
This project was created using both Adobe After Effects and Adobe Photoshop.
Adobe Photoshop was used to create individual layers.
Adobe After Effects was used to combine all the layers and view them in 3D space to achieve parallax.
The glow of the lights along with all the animations were achieved on Adobe After Effects.
Throughout the production, the mindset I carried was "Show Don't Tell". I wanted the title sequence to be interesting enough to convince the viewer that this movie was worth the watch. To pay homage to the grand visual composition combined with the fantastic music produced by Daft Punk really solidifies why this movie was phenomenal and has acquired a cult following today.
During the production phase, the scenes I thought of were only possible by first thinking about the music. My whole animation was based around the song, it flows and syncs with the music as that was the first goal.
The second goal was to show enough to the viewer to be intrigued by it and then be motivated to view the whole film. I had to make the conscious decision throughout this phase of production to not include all scenes, to not include incredible and iconic scenes and only the mildly iconic but influential scenes to hook the viewer in.
The third goal was to pace and arrange the animations in the perfect way to be the synopsis about what is so good about the film.
This project was only PART of the complete animation that pays homage to the film "Tron Legacy".
