The theory of perception is quite complex and advanced for kids, but the rules are really simples.
Everybody, even children, know it all, but just don’t usually notice it. They just have to try a way to discover it themselves.
A nice way to follow that direction was to create little challenges and games for the child, creating interaction between him and the book. The rules are divided in 8 different books, so the final result is a little collection.
In this way, it make the child focusing every time in only one rule.

EVERY GESTALT RULE IS LINKED TO A FUNNY ANIMAL

With the style of the illustrations, we want to create funny and cute protagonists, in order to gain the attention of the child from the beginning to the end of the book. In the same time, we need a style quite simple, minimal and geometric, to adapt the drawings at the different games. It was also necessary in order to show in a clean way the Gestalt Principles.

We called the collection The Gestalt Zoo.
Every animal, who’s the protagonist of one book, was chosen for its own characteristics that fit to the rule.
The rules became funnier and easier to understand since there is a story accompanying the challenge and the characters.

The layout of the books wants to accent the illustration of every single animal, so we create strong contrast.
The result is that every book is hardly characterized by a vivid color, opposite to the main color of the animal.
Titles and covers are design with scribble derived from the main illustrations.
